1. Is there a band or song out there that once you HATED but now you LOVE? [feel free to elaborate on the opposite, also]

2. What would be your perfect combo of music and food? [The current example is listening to Cake while devouring same.]

This fluff brought to you by WOODSY SMELLS.

1. I used to hate the Misfits (danzig-era), the Clash, and Johnny Cash. The first two because I thought they were horribly recorded, the musicians had no talent, and the singers couldn't sing. Johnny Cash just because I couldn't get into country.

2. Music and food? I honestly have no idea. I'd love to hear a bunch of cowboy influenced rockabilly and psychobilly bands playing at a south-western and tex/mex cookoff. That'd be kinda cool.

When I was a kid, my dad would sometimes take over my nintendo and play my puzzle games. He'd turn down the volume and put on Steely Dan: Pretzel Logic. I used to hate that album with a passion, and parts of it would get stuck in my head and repeat endlessly. Eventually after I hadn't heard it in awhile, I found the songs repeating in my head again in high school, and I ended up digging the cd out from his collection and listening to it myself. Somehow I ended up becoming a fan.

There are far too many examples of the opposite where I might have liked a song or at least been lukewarm about it until it got way overplayed on the radio. The Primitive Radio Gods: Standing Outside A Broken Phone Booth With Money In My Hand is one of the better examples. And I swear I will run from the room screaming if I ever hear the two opening chords of this one particular Dave Matthews song again.

Not sure on the music/food thing. I don't really think one enhances the experience of the other, at least not for me.

I used to hate the sisters of mercy. Yup. I really hated them to death, but I grew to like them after a few things went wrong in my life, then I listened to them non-stop, sometimes we associate a band with a person we can't stand, well I do anyway.
On the same token, I used to love NIN, now I hate NIN.

As for food and music I guess the sugarcubes or blondie would be good with a slice of cherry pie.

I despised REM and Smashing Pumpkins when I was younger, but I really appreciate the music now.

I refused to listen to Tori Amos for years because a friend introduced me to her as "jazz". I really like her stuff these days, though not as much as I did 10 years ago.

I adored heavy metal and black metal for years, but now have to be in a very, very rare mood to handle either one.

They Might Be Giants and chocolate milk.

I used to hate Phish and strongly disliked Ween and Radiohead. These are now three of my favorite bands.

That TMBG and chocolate milk idea was a good call.

Hm.

I can't beat that.
