First - happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] midnightscott, [livejournal.com profile] blackradish, [livejournal.com profile] cxc, [livejournal.com profile] rhainangel, [livejournal.com profile] ding_0_, [livejournal.com profile] goofy_goff, [livejournal.com profile] glass_grenade, and [livejournal.com profile] radiantdaffodil! I'm really sorry I missed getting your wishes to you in time, but I haven't been around. I've been thinking about all of you, though.
And today! TODAY is [livejournal.com profile] xelucha's birthday! May it be filled with BPAL, great old psychedelic folk, and delicious tea!

So I've waited so long to give a real update that I'm starting to lose details. Most of the part of the trip that concerned B'more was either spent with my Mom or with the ever-delightful [livejournal.com profile] djdayglo. Mom replaced her screened porch in the back yard with a glassed-in screenhouse, and she and I spent a LOT of time sitting out there and enjoying it, often with Queenie at our feet. I managed to get some time with Wendy at a strangely depleted Daily Grind, and then with Wendy and [livejournal.com profile] scary_kisses for a fabulous dinner at One World [and [livejournal.com profile] rampantpuppy even showed up, a super surprise!] and MUCH talking. It was a seriously laid-back visit, which I probably really needed. Sunday I rolled out around half-time [so my Mom wouldn't have her game interrupted, hehee] and drove over to Shirlington to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] jukebox_heroine, [livejournal.com profile] oletheros, [livejournal.com profile] crossbonesdj, and [livejournal.com profile] jesusbunny at Aladdin's for fabulous Middle Eastern fare and delightful, silly conversation. [and CAKE. Delicious chocolate cake!] Even managed to make it into Charlottesville in time to catch the entirety of the Synthetic Division/In Tenebris/ The Last Dance show.

Can I just say that the show was SO good... I'm really glad I made it. I had a couple of moments there, standing up front and letting the extremely tight set from In Tenebris wash over me - yeah, it gets hard sometimes to leave the past behind. I do miss Cville, and I feel like I'm already a part of the past there... as well it should be, but still. It was tough.

IHop with fabulous peoples! [I managed to get it twice, after that show AND after Umlaut, how super is that?] Still not enough time to talk to [livejournal.com profile] redzshadow, there never is enough time. A lot of coffee, time to catch up with my favourite Squidgewife [livejournal.com profile] krasota... a delightful dinner with [livejournal.com profile] krues8dr, who I miss quite a bit... having [livejournal.com profile] solieri help me make my now-infamous costume in the meter parking lot by the Downtown Mall... endless coffee at Mudhaus.

UMLAUT! What fun! Despite that I had to convince someone that insulting the music that the DJ was currently spinning was NOT the way to get a request played, I had a BLAST and it was definitely the sendoff I could only have dreamed of having. The place was packed, the costumes were funny and/or amazing, people were pleasant and huggy and happy and silly, and the dance floor was packed. DJing with [livejournal.com profile] thatritebastard and [livejournal.com profile] audiorapture was as pleasant and fun as always - I'll miss trading sets with you. Being there definitely confirmed that I'm making the right decision - not only did I feel like retiring was the right thing to do, I had a serious reaction to the smoke about halfway through the night and it was baaaaad. However, I did have an excellent time while there, and all my thanks go out to [livejournal.com profile] wanderyng1, Umlaut and R2/Rapture for having me there... and to everyone for being there. Thank you.

The last IHop had the lovely [livejournal.com profile] carnaval_noir and [livejournal.com profile] nannar in the party - Brian was an AWESOME werewolf. I feel like I hardly got to talk to Kristy, but that wasn't her fault. [miss you, girlie!] I also didn't get nearly enough time talking to [livejournal.com profile] nothingoth and [livejournal.com profile] aleiphein. I did get more time with Maya, but I could have used more more more. More time with Patrick would have been cool, too.
HOWEVER. It was a great night. And the next day, lunch at Panera before shipping out was also SUPER. Thank you guys for making time for me.

The drive home was tiring. I came home and was just wiped out. In fact, I've been pooped for a week. Yet another signal that I'm getting too old for this. ._.

And speaking of getting too old for stuff - I need to sleep. I hope I didn't miss anything vital. I love all you guys. Look for an Umlaut setlist tomorrow. Now, sleep.

Well, I've got new tracks from Clan of Xymox, Gary Numan, All Gone Dead, Atomic Box, Children Of The CPU, Das Ich, De/Vision, Morrissey, Vanishing Kids, and Red This Ever... plus a whole SLEW of classic and awesome goth, industrial, deathrock, horror rock, synthpop, EBM, and weirdness for you. If you're in a band or you know a band that I should be spinning, please drop me a line! If I like it, I'll give it more promotion than you can handle!

Of utmost importance:

NOW is the time to clear your calendar for JUNE 17th! JUNE! SEVENTEENTH!

...wanna know why?

I WILL BE SPINNING AT THE DAWNING. [livejournal.com profile] the_dawning, you know?

Look to the community for who I'll be spinning with - I'm pretty sure I know who but I don't wanna be wrong, hehee. You can be certain that it is a tried-and-true Dance Your Ass Off Combo!

And if that isn't enough. I'll be in town that whole weekend, debuting the exhibition of my darling husband [livejournal.com profile] inefficiency! Expect excursions to coffee shops and the Tea House, and lots of eating and chatting and meeting.

Now would be the time to mention stuff you'd like to do with us, or stuff you want me to spin.
Ra ra ra!

And to top that off, after days of evil electrical storms, I'm finally ripping some more music, and I'll be adding some stuff to the Radio Xiane rotation. And [livejournal.com profile] eure_maum, finally I'll be able to burn those CDs :D

So... spread the word. And I will be seeing some of you so very soon!

UMBC's theater department will present a World Premiere March 8-12, 2006: Victor Frankenstein, a new puppetry adaptation of Mary Shelley's novel. The puppets will be made from paper and floating masks and the student actors will manipulate them in fluid groups, much like Japanese Bunraku-style puppeteers. The show will also include projections of text from the novel in likeness of an early silent film, underscored by original music by Anna Rubin. For more information visit http://www.umbc.edu/theatre/productions.html [taken from the BSFS mailer]

Not much to say about daily life, other than I saw [livejournal.com profile] angelitica today when she stopped in at HT - and she looked so marvelous! - I lost my voice and gained it back somewhat but I still feel poopy, and today was one of those days where I felt like I couldn't do anything right.
I did manage to get some packages wrapped and some others in boxes to mail. If you've gotten Xmoose pressies from me before, you know the drill. I'm a late-mailer. Sorry. I still love you.
You should really make plans to attend [livejournal.com profile] cryptkicker_md on Wednesday, for several reason which I will list here:

1. Guest DJ SuperStars [livejournal.com profile] jukebox_heroine [Jolene] and [livejournal.com profile] jesusbunny [Smytii]. They rock! They'll be on early, too, a perfect excuse to come out and take advantage of the cheap rail drink specials! ;)
2. DJ Nekromantra and I will be rockin' it too, Yule-Style.
3. I won't be at many more of these, y'know. You only get me for THREE more Crypties!
4. I will have some Xmoosery for selected members of the congregation.

Yeah! So DOOOOOOO EEEEEEEET.

First order: HAPPY BIRTHDAY to [livejournal.com profile] audiorapture and [livejournal.com profile] dj_chewka!!

Second order: omg, [livejournal.com profile] the_dawning was amazing. The day went something like this... got up and packed up everything, and got on the road kinda early, figuring that Xmoose traffic would make things tough going. This wasn't a factor by the time I reached [livejournal.com profile] djdayglo's house, so I was there an HOUR early [eep!]... we used the time for her to get ready and for us to chat pleasantly about a million things. Got on the road right about when I thought we would [around 4pm] and almost promptly thereafter got caught in the mother of all traffic jams on 495. Thank the FSM that Wendy knows that side of town, because she directed me to a sooper-seekrit route through Bethesda and around until we circumnavigated the tie-up. Evidently it had BOTH sides of 495 pretty much shut down. That would wreak havoc for the bands who were traveling to the show, namely THE BRIDES and THE NEW MINORITY, as they didn't have the insider navigational info that I did.
With a few pit stops, we made it to Cville by 830pm... not too shabby, considering. The rest of the drive was effortless, despite the crappy BK food. [we couldn't hold out for Sheetz.] Pulled in and unloaded and from that point on it was a blur of hugs and jokes and Good Times. Immediately saw [livejournal.com profile] fiendmorte, [livejournal.com profile] nocturniandeath, [livejournal.com profile] bukakke4justice, [livejournal.com profile] antisocialgirl_, and [livejournal.com profile] newlyrisendead, then [livejournal.com profile] rozzgoth and [livejournal.com profile] orientallilly. After that it becomes almost impossible to name everyone I saw, as it would be a HUGE chunk of my friends list... just let's say that it was *wonderful* and I wish I'd had more time to talk to all of you. So fabulous. Of course all the bands kicked ass, and [livejournal.com profile] djjinxed was kind enough to arrange our DJing schedules so that I could be upstairs to rock out in the front row for The Brides. I was also upstairs for most of The New Minority [and caught part of Dead New Year, too] and they had excellent performances.
It was really gratifying to hear people scream in appreciation when I spun certain tracks... I wasn't breaking too much new ground, but that's okay. That's not the kind of night it was. The floor was comfortably full even on the riskier tracks, and I was pleasantly surprised to see the Kaiser Chiefs' "Everyday I Love You Less And Less" get a full and enthusiastic dancefloor. Wow!
The drive back was easy and pleasant, no real traffic or issues. I came home after dropping off Wendy and passed out.

Then I was awoke a few hours later by a panicked co-worker, revealing that I'd NOT been taken off the schedule as promised, and could I please please come in for a few hours?

Fuck. Sure. Ugh. [hehee, that's about verbatim I think.]

So I went to work for a few hours. That's why there was no update yesterday. I was blasted.
Tonight I'll have a setlist, but NOW? I have to go.... to work. :/
Woooo!
