So. Last night was the Bella Morte CD release party. They played, which equals a huge Crowded House of Doom... but the madness was more than the usual amount.
Now I know that when you're expecting a sell-out crowd, you are going to get some shenanigans and incidents... but good lord. We had an abduction and burning of a treasured squeeky toy [along with some general obnoxiousness and completely childish and rude behaviour from those involved with the burning]; we had someone get so trashed that he started spewing and had to be escorted out before the first band even started; we had fights [almost never happens atthe club]; we had a very lovely girl get hit on the head and pass out during the Morte's set. Overall: madness. I am completely not amused. As I say, I expect some dumb shit to happen, but a lot of the shit that went on was from locals who only ever come out when BM plays, and they didn't do much for our reputation. And, most importantly, I hate rudeness, and most of the crap that happened, happened to FRIENDS of mine. Needless to say, I am frustrated and embarrassed. I really couldn't have changed anything, but that doesn't stop me from being annoyed by this sort of shit.
*sigh*
I didn't get in bed last night until 4:30. I went to sleep without even taking a shower; I didn't even care that I'd had beer, soda and water dumped on my at various points in the evening. I was pooped and exausted.
I'm looking forward to the almost month of no bands during the Holidays.
I will mention that of course Bella Morte rocked. Atsushi did his performance with the Dirty Round Eyes, and that was also excellent, although I don't think some people understood that he's the man responsible for us having a venue for our club. Andy was supposed to get up on stage and introduce them, but I don't think that happened.
Whoops.
We broke all attendance records last night, and I'm pleased with that, too. Now if some of 'em will come out more regularly... yeah.

eeeeeek!

sounds like quite a night!

i'm sorry i missed all the drama and fun, but i was enjoying myself (quite a bit, actually) at sarah & rick's wedding wing ding, even if the hippie jam band wasn't exactly my thing.

um, yeah.

but hey, cheap white wine + empty stomach = happily buzzed krasota. and taking a happily buzzed krasota to her favorite latenight lebanese joint = even happier krasota. and then letting her sober up on the open rooftop of an apartment building with a good friend while her antihistamines start working = ebullient krasota.

woohoo!

Sheesh!! I knew there was a reason I just HAD to spend my C-Ville money on other stuff!! You need to get on AIM (tell all the usual nitwhits to buzz off) and chat with me about it. I want to know which squeeky and who are the offenders so I can shove my boot up their asses. I'm sorry I was able to at least be there for you, but you know jim would have freaked out with a scene like that.....I'd have to scrape him off the ceiling!

So call me or IM me!! I'm up till all hours and in town till Wednesday AM.

Love,

Jaide.

Krassie: Yay that you had fun! I missed you, but you probably would have been terribly miserable in the overwhelmimg heat/smoke. Sounds like DC was much more fun, jam band music aside ;)

Jaide: I can't call tonight, because I'm still pooped and have to get up really early tomorrow... but I might just have to call from Coyote... hmm. Yeah. Whee!
Dude, I would have been kicking asses and taking pictures of it if I'd known taht most of this stuff was going on WHILE it was happening. I think the number one annyoying part of the whole thing was that no one told Tank or I while the worst parts were going on, when we really could have dome something about it. Arg.
I missed you guys, though.

I do love you, Chris -- one day I hope to have amazing management skills like yours... you need much snuggings and chocolate.

Honestly, I completely didn't think of fetching you or Tank whilst shit was occuring. The predominant thought in my mind was "Avert bloodshed. Avert bloodshed. Avert bloodshed." Tall, pale, emaciated little goth boys wrapping their spiked collars around their knuckles -- if it hadn't been so frightening, I think I would have wet myself laughing. :P

I wonder how thrilled Bella Morte get when anyone refers to them as "BM".

Actually, it is fairly appropriate, as they [well, Andy] talks about poop fairly regularly. It has become a bit of a legend around these parts!

Is this going to become one of those RHPS things where fans throw toilet paper around at their shows?

Wellll... they already throw panties [no, I'm NOT kidding]

Up until about 6 months ago, we had a die-hard crew of regulars that would get in the front row of all Bella Morte shows, wave about plastic lightsabers and flashy guns, and mock the band. No, I don't understand the lightsabers either. Also, there's a great page that mocks Bella Morte, made by one of the same front-row-kids: http://www.blahmorte.iwarp.com/ (http://www.blahmorte.iwarp.com/)
It is hilarious to those who know.

Despite all the bad that happened Saturday, the show itself was very good. Nick and I enjoyed it all very much and I wanted to say that we both appreciate very much all the work you put into organizing every show, and everything that happens there. The band itself was incredible and Atsushi was an interesting and talented opening act. I went upstairs after awhile to get out of the heat so I missed the ceremonial idiocy of the burning Spooky. But the point behind this message was to say thank you. Your efforts don't get entirely looked over. I just wish more people would realize that you need the support and the appreciation, and that they would show up for even local acts. I will get there when my schedule and money allows, but it doesn't matter to me if the band is well known across the country, or just within the neighborhood. They all need support and I will be happy to share mine with them when possible.
Enjoy the noise. And feel free to poke me with a thornbush if you would like to chat.

A BURNING SPOOKY! that sounds like a wondrous and lively show...but i imagine it will take a while for that burned rubber stentch to disappear.

No, more like a "By the gods, I can't believe they're actually destroying our squeek toy. Let's all sit here and shake with barely constrained emotions of rage and hatred towards the unwashed street trash violating our one safe haven."

If it had been some burning-man-esque willing sacrifice, true, it could have been enjoyable. As it was, it was most certainly BAD.

AH! so it was unwanted street trash burning your beloved squeek toy...maybe he was a crazed holy roller punishing the heathen masses for idolatry!
either way, that does suck.

Not to mention all the drunk dumbshits that nearly tore Jesse's shirt off...
No kidding about the rudeness, some dood came up to me and started feeling up my skirt, yeah, it was silk and smooth and nice and stuffs...but there is no call for that shit.

I like it better when the LC (lynchburg college) kids are there..myself included.

Poor M, I miss spooky already.

... I'm starting to agree.

I know we're all fairly new kiddies, but we're regulars, and have been pretty damn respectful of everyone else. (If a little overly full of pixi stix, at times.)

But there are one or two *cough* older regulars who seriously make me doubtful that I should respect them -- I'm honestly trying my best to keep a level head and not judge too much, but when the college kids are more respectful than some THIRTY year olds and married people... well, that's not perhaps the most healthy thing.

And seeing everyone pal around with our injurers afterwards...

I guess I'm still pretty upset about this. :/

I love the Lynchburg crew. And I include Jade and M in that crew, because that's how I first associated you all :) I'm really frustrated that we're finally beginning to get the ranks of the club back up, and with nice people who really support the night... and things go to shit. I will say, if you want fucked up drama, a goth club is the number one magnet for it [not saying that you guys caused the drama, but that you were on the recieving end], and we've been luckily pretty drama-free up to this point. And then... bam.
I'm really annoyed that there were some people who should have been old enough to know better involved, myself. I guess age doesn't necessarily rule out clouded judgement or just plain dumbness. In role of devil's advocate, I do think some people had no real idea what went on that night, so you might want to see how they react after the whole story comes out before judging them too harshly on how they acted that night. Tempers and emotions were high, and it even took me about 12 hours to finally sort out the whole of the story. I didn't even know that "the kid who hit Vanessa", as the story was orginally presented to me, was actually Amelia's brother trying to help. A lot of people flew off the handle without knowing the whole tale, and at least a few of them will be feeling very foolish when they know everything.
I just don't want you guys scared off because of a few assholes who never come out unless there's a "big" show [read that as a show where they can show off how cool they are because they were here five years ago]. That shit won't wash for them; I will do my best to make sure that you guys feel welcome. I'm not putting up with this sort of bullshit at the club, especially not to people who actually give a shit about the place and have been nothing but great.
