Happiness is...
15 September 2005 15:06Mmmm, home-made fruit smoothie. Nothing like a little fresh strawberry/raspberry/blueberry goodness, whisked in the blender. Add some ice and yogurt of the organic [or soy variety if you're vegan or not
krasota], and blend. Quickest yumfest ever.
Last night! You know, I try not to gush too often about
cryptkicker_md, because I don't want to sound like the lame promoter/DJ-chick who can't shut up about her event... but it really is the most awesome thing.
It isn't just because I get to spin my favourite most-neglected genres of music, but because the crowd there is smallish and friendly, and I can wander around and talk to everyone, watch an awesomely terrible horror movie [courtesy of
osiris909], dance around like a deathdork, or sit on a couch and knit all night - and be perfectly happy. I love the casual feel of the place. I mean.. I could dress up, but it's fine if I show up in the world's oldest Bauhaus tee, too. For my C'ville friends, The Depot has some of the dive-like atmosphere that Tokyo Rose had... in fact, it feels a lot like that club to me.
So last night was the invasion of the Flesh-Eating New Minority, and they brought some Philly crew with them, too.
endofdawn spun an ass-kicking set, including some of TNM's new material from "What's Left Of Our Freedom." Hatter's amazing - in fact, I love this band an awful lot. Promoter types who like crazy deathrock/post-punk style bands with strong political themes - this is the one for you. BOOK THEM.
I'm glad that a lot of my favourite regulars came out, too. A few faces were AWOL, and youSUCK! were missed! [hehee.]
Today's been rather lazy. I had to get up early - for me, that is - to let some delivery people in. Yes, Mom's buying more stuff. This time it's a bar for the basement. That room is awfully nice for a space we hardly use. I suppose I should get real-dressed, rather than the lounge pants/tee that I've been slouching around the house in, and do my errands and things for the day. What am I going to do when I finally have to handle a "real grown-up's" schedule again?
Man, is my life odd.
