5 March 2005 14:09So we have this cockatiel, Baby, who's been part of the family since I was in high school - so she's at least 20 years old. She's a social misfit of a bird - she wants companionship but will bite at you if you get too close. Cranky. She really likes to whistle with you, though... and one of the most fun things to do to entertain her is to sing with her. About two lines into whatever song you're singing, you'll see her little throat work as she tries to figure out where you're going, and usually by the chorus she's given that up and is just doing one of her standard whistles, utterly out of time. She makes up for her lack of musicality by whistling loudly, though. *grin*
She likes dramatic music, and smooth voices. She also really used to like Black Sabbath, go figure.
I worry about her - she's getting old, and rather bored with her situation, so she picks at herself a lot. I try to sing along with her often, because she really seems to like it, and she's a great audience too :)
