I'm sad I had to leave during my theme song...

I played it in tribute to you, man.

God Damnit!!!

You had to play the band I let you know about after I left.

Ooooo. You know, I think I'd like Cryptkicker. I loves me some bleepidty, yes I do, but that playlist sounds infinitely tolerable. Vex, you should bring me sometime, now that I'm sadly unemployed again.

You know what I find highly amusing, lately? That certain goth *cough* nights tend to play more "ironic" music than gothic music. Unsettling, but oh, so true! Yes, come out, come out on Saturday night and you're faaaar more likely to hear Vanilla Ice than The Cure. Oh, bondage!

I think Chewka's set would have tickled you pink.

And the people there are super. Sooooooper.

... and the dance floor is generally abandoned. So. Much. Room.

Meeep, what was on her set? <3

*dies* Now, HOW far away is it to drive, again?

Damn it, woman!

HEY!!!!!!!

by [identity profile] bukakke4justice.livejournal.com
I am one of those DJ's that plays chesse and no, let me make that very clear absolutly no gay goth shit.

NO EBM
NO DARKWAVE
NO GAY ASS NEW PUNK
NO CURE..

But I do play goth rock all the time, its just a matter of taste. And honestly we are just trying to make it fun.

*giggle* I was waiting for that.

While I personally like the "gay goth shit" [and gay goths! yay!] I also respect the Gothic Rock. And I prefer less cheese more meat myself. But I'm not callin' the shots. You hafta make it your *own* groove, and that's what you do. I respect that.

Whenever I'm alone with you, baby.

Delicious gayness.

Actually, I was meaning you should take me to Cryptkicker, since you've gone? (You haven't moved, right?) You haven't been spinning at the Dawning lately, have you? I'm so out of the loop. *sobs*

I know your night is totally hardcore. I just find it hilarious there's more Beastie Boys than Bauhaus. ^_^

I can't help the fact I can't have comedic nostalgia for Vanilla Ice... oh, the burning... the burning... angst... taking over... someone... an infusion of spooky, STAT...

Irony rules.

So far, you're the only person to complain. Everyone else digs the extreme cheese factor, and I don't play Vanilla Ice OR The Cure... I play the Ministry of Shit's "Ice Ice Bacon." It's really funny...

I loves me some Bolshoi :) I hope i get to spin an honest-to-goodness goth night sometime.

by [identity profile] xiane.livejournal.com
... come spin for us :)

[livejournal.com profile] rat_bastard teased me about spinning that Bolshoi song [because it used to be a staple of my setlist for a while] - I got nostalgic and had to hear it!

by [identity profile] bloodlossgirl.livejournal.com
I might take you up on that. :)

Let's be honest: I love the synthpop. I'm a synthpop/trancewh0re. But sometimes i wish I had the opportunity to spin a darkity set without worries about packing the floor.l

This past Saturday night at "Females & Fleshhooks" was FAB-U-LOUS.

But i'm still jonesing for a goth night :)

by [identity profile] xiane.livejournal.com
I hear you. Oh, I hear you.

This is a dream come true for me, because I've never really had free reign to spin a night with old punk AND goth AND psychobilly AND horror rock... all night. Without worrying about killing the dance floor.
At The Dawning, I kept it all mixed up, and I think did a competent job of keeping the honest-to-goodness goth quota in with the synthpop, electro and EBM. It was fun, and I enjoyed being diverse. And I've spun a night or tow of only electronica, and that was fun. too.
This, however- this is a *party*.

:D

You come to Baltimore, I will make sure you get a set of the gothity goth!

I'm so, so pleased for you :) Really. I know I've been quiet lately, but I've been thinking of you.

Woo. I can be goth-as-a -mofo like nobody's business. Just wait and see.

the superpower hit that's SWEEEPING EUROPE, courtesy of the romanian pop wonder boys O-ZONE. i swear, this needs to be inserted in a set list at some point. it will be like... an explosion of amazing sugarcoated AWESOME. brains will implode!

ahaha i don't know why i felt like it was necessary to suggest this. but i love it so much and for some reason i thought you'd really appreciate it.

ps THEN go watch the music video. it is animated europop gay FANTASY.

Noted and heeded. I'll post about what I think as soon as I get a chance. I LOVE recommendations!

Thank you for thinking of me! :)

You love the recommendations? I'd think you'd chuckle bemusedly at the mortal's attempt to recommend things to you, music goddess of all. (I mean, that's what I do when people tell me to read X comic... *whistles innocently*)

Have you heard Hannah Fury? She's all I can think about nowadays. She has songs about vampires, The Wicked Witch of the West, Marie Annoinette, Man-Thing, some kind of retelling of Scarborough Fair, and a cover of The Metro. It's so beautiful. *weeps*

*sighs* Definitely the first "I can't take this out of my CD player" I've had in a while. You must experience the beauty.

I could totally burn you like, everything if you want. I know you're the type to support if you like, plus, I got the buy-one-get-one-free CD deal. <3 Woo, the concept of ACTUAL MAIL frightens me...

lordy! how did i find this entry? :)

found the post via some goth lj group.. hope dont mind me gatecrashing it for a minute :)

thats a very nice setlist there, but i couldnt help notice this mistake (i think):

"Red Lorry Yellow Lorry [last train]"

unless there is a lorries song called "last train", and i'll admit that i'm not hugely familiar with the bulk of their work, i think the song you mean is by ghost dance.

"On the last train
Riding the weather
On the last train
My idea of heaven’s when I hear that whistle blow
A kiss too late goodbye
All aboard let’s go
And leave yesterday behind"

etc

i can imagine how the mistake might have come about - both are from leeds, have connections with the sisters of mercy (gary was the original guitarist in the sisters) and gd's bass player, etch, may have even been in the lorries at one point. certainly the lorries' drummer mick brown ended up in the mission with wayne & craig, ex-sisters... ahh, such incest :)

but yeah, back to "last train": does it have a pounding drum machine, killer 80s goff guitar riff and a woman wailing away?

if so, then it's definitely ghost dance :)

its from "the grip of love" single - http://www.ghostdance.co.uk/discography/singles12.php?id=grip

check the lyrics - http://www.ghostdance.co.uk/discography/lyrics.php?id=13

is that the one?

its a quality tune :)

for me the best lorries track would probably be "walking on your hands".

anyway, i'll leave you to it now LOL! sorry about that :)

stealth playlist observances!

But...

I'm old and it shows, la la la. :D

I love Ghost Dance, too. But this is *definitely* RLYL.

ps - you have great taste in music!
