So you might notice the frequency of my posts increasing, as I finally got the wireless network up and running last night.
Not without a struggle, mind you...
First, I had to move inordinate amounts of heavy workout equipment and furniture with my Mom. You might want to note that my Mom is 5'nothing and like 120 pounds, so the weight distribution was a weee bit off. O_o
Got all that taken care of and stopped to eat, then moved to phase two, which required me to find all the pieces of my computer - most of which I managed to cleverly pack in a way that didn't require too much thinking - and then assemble said pieces. That was the easiest part of the night.
Next, I opened the Linksys wireless router, and looke dover the instructions. After being adamntly admonished to USE THE INSTALL CD, I decided to go ahead and be lazy.
BIG mistake.
Let's just say that Verizon and Linksys don't play well together, and it took a call to tech support to get it all mashed out. I still haven't figured out if I'll lose the connection if mom shuts down her computer or not... I guess I'll see soon enough. Because I'm in another room, one with brick walls, my connection can be spotty. Last night I kept getting kicked off repeatedly. I opened both the doors and that helped somewhat. I think I might invest in the extender antannas for the router, and maybe a bigger one for my wireless card.
Ha, I talk like I have money.
Anyway, it seems to be working well. I knew I had it right on my end before I'd even called tech support, because I could see my computer from Mom's. I squealed "SquidgeHame's on the network!" and Mom just shot me a funny look. The signal drops out unexpectedly, so if you see me online and I disappear without saying goodbye, that's why. Otherwise, the connection's great, I have fast-as-hell access, and I'm much happier now.
In other news... due to the massive movement [ew] of all that shit [ha] last night, the room is starting to feel more like mine. I have cable, tho I haven't really used it yet, and there are more movies here than you can imagine.
briskpepper, you'd be jealous. Mom still hasn't moved out of the damn closet, so getting dressed is a bit of a chore, especially now that the temperature's dropped about 30 degrees, and all my winter clothes seem to be buried. Teeshirts and hoodies, woo! It's the uniform I wear all year long O_o
Mom took me shopping yesterday, and though I didn't get a biker jacket to replace the one I left to see at Coyote, I did get a soft-as-hell plushy, velvety jacket [with a hood!] to keep me warm. I also bought a new hair dryer, as the one I had blew the breaker HERE too! WTF? So we'll see if that one works any better, or if hair dryers are just too over-powered these days. I only need it for my damn bangs, yet I can hardly ever keep it on for THAT long.
And speaking of long, my hair's finally starting to grow quickly again. Trimmed my bangs, which wanted to stick themselves in my eyes... the rest is growing and doing it's thing. And my hair's still bright-ass red, at least for now.
Okay, i suspect that I'm babbling now. I'm looking for my friends to entertain me now, la la la...
edit: Mom doesn't LIVE in the closet. Her clothes do. But that was too funny to change! :D

2004-11-10 03:07 (UTC)When are you coming up this way to visit?!?!
so much love for you.
2004-11-10 03:10 (UTC)I want to come visit! But until I have a car, that's on hold. As soon as insurance money comes in... which hopefully will be soon, as I can't really work until I have a car.
Stuck in Perry Hall, oh joy.
Someone complimented your art/my tattoo today. *grin*
Re: so much love for you.
2004-11-10 04:03 (UTC)...and I really like the way that tattoo came out!
Re: so much love for you.
2004-11-10 05:31 (UTC)oooh. Maybe sometime on a weekend? I'd *love* to come out and see you and the lovely family! I want Mom to get in a regular pattern of sleeping through the night before I jet off for sleep-overs, but I think it won't take more than a week, the way she's going.
I'm totally excited by the idea of seeing you!

I'm kinda enjoying the houseboundness... for now. Soon enough, I'll get stir-crazy.
