Last night was lame, yet rather fun. Don't ask me how that works, I don't understand it myself. There was next to no one at The Dawning, yet I managed to have fun spinning some silly goth rock and other tunes, and the switching back and forth seemed to work pretty well. At least everyone that was there claimed to have a good time, and as Marika put it, the vibe was like a private party. We gathered a small contingent afterwards [Liam, Marika, Randy, Germy, and Darkcell] and went to IHOP, which actually was the high point of the evening. Lots of fun there, and we decided that if we were to enlist in a branch of the military, we were all going Coast Guard. [Don't ask, you had to be there] I'm still not convinced it would be much different than a tech job though - you would stilll have to deal with dumbasses who can't be bothered to follow directions and ask stupid questions.

Coffee from the Chevron has gone down in quality considerably. *sigh*

So tonight I take over Subculture Shock. Am I nervous? You bet. I'm also pretty excited about the whole adventure. I need to get more music if I want this to work - I have a LOT of music already, but there's a lot I need to add to my collection too. DJing last night was a good thing though, as now I'm really in the groove for picking music to get a flow going. Damn. I've got the jitters in ways I never get when I perform... funny how being just a little bit out of one's element can do that.

I was going to write some crap about my "arch-enemy" coming back to town and annoying me, but I've decided to leave it. I've come to the decision that the less energy I waste on her, the better. Having said that, I feel a lot better equipped to deal with her intrusions into my life... maybe I'm ready to upswing out of the down mood I've been in and reclaim a bit of that positive outlook that I'm so trying to keep?
Only time will tell, eh?

My complaint about SubShock

Is that harsh music doesn't get played there. The closest thing to harsh music is me telling the DJ to play Leaether Strip's "Adrenaline Rush (Veggar Version)" or Project Pitchfork's "Timekiller" and that's about it. It's like the "shocking" sub-culture has to be radio-friendly(?) and that excludes harsh music. Whatever. Good luck with SubShock. Ootah Gootah. Don't forget to vote in my LJ to make me insult Dawning setlists. ;)
