Tattoo!

Hi there, guess who got new ink today?

Last spring, during WNRN's fund drive [next one's coming up starting Sept 20th, by the by!], I pledged and got a $100 gift certificate to Capital Tattoo. I've been saving it up until now... I wanted to get art from t_revelator as my next piece, and I was pretty sure that I wanted to use the woodcut that he gave me long ago, a raven breaking through glass [the icon you see above].

Timothy, hope you like it.

The pic quality sucks, and my arm's all swollen, but the tattoo looks clean, crisp and even on me.








It's on my left bicep; quite the testimony to how I feel about my weight loss, as you know I'll be showing everyone.
I think it's perfect. Hope you all think so, too.

originalcynic did Acrimonia the Dawning Girl, and I bet she'd sketch you out some art. Having something that you know no one else will have is a pretty powerful feeling :)

Thank you! I have the woodcut print; I really should get it framed. Timothy Renner's art is amazing, and generally even more complex than this piece. I just personally resonate with this one, and I thought the bold lines would translate well onto skin...

That's fabulous... I'm totally too freaked/scared of needles/pain to ever get inked.... but I do appreciate some good work....

It's weird, it's not really "needley" enough to make me think of needles the way that say, getting a piercing does.. but there definitely an element of discomfort to the whole process. This one was less annoying to get than the skeleton key. That positively burned in some areas, but since that one's on my inner forearm, I suppose it's to be expected.
I started getting pierced to both get adorned and to get over my fear of needles. The payoff was worth it to me. Now I can go to the doctor and just shrug my way through. :D

Key phrase for this rite of passage? "This too shall pass."

eh...a few piercings below the neck are enough for me...

the noise of the gun for ink reminds me of the dentist and puts me on edge, i can't be in a parlor w/o feeling quesy... :(

Funny you should mention the sound, I was thinking the same thing last night, and I decided that's the one part I really *do* dislike. Ew. Nothing should ever make the same sounds as dentist's tools!

Thank you! Timothy's art is often much more fine-lined, and I rrrealllly wanted something of his on me, and this just seemed to be the right piece for so many reasons... stylistically and symbolically. I can't wait to see it after it has settled in; right now it's in the gross stage. :P

Brilliant! I've always loved that icon and the symbolism in it [er, the symbolism of it that's in my head o.O] ... Very awesome. Makes me get all jittery about getting my first tat. Yay!
