Woke up from a hard sleep around 2p today, which seems late to most people. Most people don't go to bed at 5a, though. Came home from The Dawning - which was excellent! You should have been there, if you weren't! - and sat around with [livejournal.com profile] nothingoth and [livejournal.com profile] mrjustice for a bit, sipping tea and chatting. My voice had pretty much gone by that point, but some tea with lemon helped to revive it a bit. After the guys trudged off to their respective room/apartment for collapse, I sat around and piddled online for a bit, then decided there was no way in hell that I was going to bed without a shower. Sometimes the post-Dawning showers are the best ones in the world. Of course, being exuasted, I went to bed with a wet head, and now my hair looks like a piece of modern art. Nothing a crimping iron won't fix, though!
Today's agenda includes adding blue streaks to [livejournal.com profile] eilonwy's hair - fun! - and SubShock, of course. I'll have to go back through my CDs before I go over to the station tonight, because I take a slightly different mix to spin at the club than I do on the air. Some things don't change, like I always take my CD books that have the majority of my collection in them. But I have a box of what the radio industry would call "currents", and I change those out as I get in new things. Also my digipack CDs that don't have titles on the CDs themselves go in that box. Last night I used the box a lot, because I had a lot of new music to play. Sometimes I can spin a whole night from the box, if I have compilations in there too, and if my sets are short [like if I'm sharing a night with people]. The very first Dawning I ever DJ'ed, I used the CDs in that box and one CD book. I was spinning a retro 80's night with Rebecca Davidsson, and I was really nervous, and she had a buttload of CDs as compared to what I brought. I caught the bug that night, though, and here I am.
I wish I was more proficient at it, but every time I DJ I try to get more skill, I try new things. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. There's no reason other than my laziness for not hooking up the DJ equipment during the week to practice, though. I need to work on that.

Okay, I have started to ramble, so obviously I need to stop and get ready for a visit from the hair-dying victim... I mean volunteer. :D
