[livejournal.com profile] briskpepper and Henofer are moving some boxes over to the new place. We're trying not to inconvenience [livejournal.com profile] nothingoth too much, as he's staying there until Sept. 1, when he moves into space under [livejournal.com profile] audiorapture... but if we don't get some of the bigger, more annoying stuff over there now, we will have Situation: Clusterfuck when it comes time for us to move. I won't be here that weekend, as [livejournal.com profile] xymoxed and I will be enjoying multiple days of Deathrock Goodness at Drop Dead. I'm sure you're all tired of hearing about that by now. Have I mentioned that I hate moving? And I hate having to bother people by semi-invading their space, especially as I am a very private person myself, and I know how annoying it must be to have us deposit boxes randomly. If it wasn't for the craziness of this schedule, we wouldn't be doing it at all. I swear.

I have a headache. I can't tell if it is post-club cranial residue, or the continuation of Virginia Monsoon Season affecting me. Blah. It is only enough pain to be annoying, which I suppose I should be grateful about, eh? Even coffee and Advil didn't banish it.

I have a million mosquito bites. I also have a nifty rash on my lower legs, because I thought somehow that it would be a good idea to wear the vinyl buckle boots all day long, including to a sweaty club, even though I know how uppity my skin gets. Duh. Thirty-six years in this body, and I still don't know how it operates.

Last night went much better than I expected. I was pretty worried about some of the logistics of making the evening snafu-free, and I realize that with the upcoming fall season, I will need more Dawning Deputies... but overall, things went fairly smoothly. I did get caught up in the "must run around like a giant dork" moment - of course, as soon as [livejournal.com profile] eilonwy showed up, and I promised that I would be right down to chat with her. Suddenly this was the time that I had to call the band for last minute confirmations, talk to Atsushi about the behind-the-scenes drama going on, find people to help me man the doors, send someone who was kicking things outside away, etc etc etc. I'm sorry, girlie! I wanted to hang out for a bit, even if we'd only talked about trivia! I think anyone who assumed that being a promoter is all sorts of glamourous would have their assumptions reversed by observing me last evening. [heh] I barely got to talk to [livejournal.com profile] xymoxed, either. That sucked. I really wanted to chit-chat.
Other than that, we seemed to have another kickass night. DJ Jinxed did a fantabulous job! For those who didn't know, that was his first DJ gig. I like that The Dawning is known as a great place to start out as a DJ or performer. I think that it is good to give everyone a chance to participate, as it rips down that elitist wall of crap. When people see that although it isn't difficult, it also takes some skill to do it well, their perceptions change about DJing. Yeah.
Anyway, we managed to keep the floor pretty packed, and it was a sweaty pit of dancing happiness all night. I played the DJ Skot C Is For Cookie/Another World remix, and I didn't get to see the crowd reaction, but I think people were amused. I like to have a fun song or two for whatever night. I spun a set of serious goth and deathrock at the beginning of the night, and then after the band I pulled out some industrial and EBM. This Morn' Omina packed the floor, wow. People have really caught on to them!

Okay, I have to get ready to go to station soon and work on OhGr interview. W00t.

Of course! Is there anything else I can put on a lovely "for Shannon" comp? I have TONS of crazy crap, and a lot of local bands, etc. I also have a copy of the Terminal Ready demo, as promised. I can send off a bunch of CDs for you or bring 'em with me to Drop Dead, whichever works for you!

If you can bring them to Drop Dead, that would be great! I'm open to anything... =)

THANKS!

Hehehee.

In fact, Xiane will be glad to honour Melanie's request.

[look, its like neither one of us are actually involved in the conversation!]

Loved C is for Cookie. Love love looooved it. Want it.

And it sucks that we didn't get to chat, but I totally understand. As I said, next time, whenever that may be. And sometime (after your move is settled!) we should hang out somewhere that's not incredibly loud and busy-making-for-Xiane.

I agree that The Dawning is a wonderful place for any musician/DJ involved in this scene to get started. I don't think some of the people that come (especially those that trash the place) understand just how good we have it here.

Thanks for honoring Mel's request. Wow. . . we've been requested! Feel free to throw us on the mixes you're making too. *plug plug plug SUPER HUGS*

Oh, and I was fine doing back door last night. Keep me on the list for doing anything at Le Dawning from now on.

LOVE THE CHRIS!

DJ Jinxed rocked!

That was his first show? No way! He was awesome, and you can tell him I said so.

(As were you, but we're used to you being a great DJ. ;-) )

I will tell him! He was *so* worried, and I knew he'd do great.

I saw you on the dance floor several times, and wanted to say hello, but I have a strict rule about bothering people when they are dancing [as I personally hate that], and I never seemed to see you off the floor. I suppose that's a testament to how much you liked the DJing ;)

Oh, and flattery like that about my DJing just goes to my head. Soon I'll have a giant balloon cranium. O_o

hehehehe

Yeah, when I'm at the Dawning, I usually make a point of dancing whenever there's a song that I really like, and Saturday night, there just weren't hardly any songs that I could say no to. I mean, physical exhaustion took over at a couple points (icky, icky heat...), but yeah, I danced as much as I could, entirely thanks to the music.

You actually weren't at the door (I think it was [livejournal.com profile] nothinggoth who checked me in), and you disappeared at various points as you're prone to do (such is the life of being the Dawning's own costumed superhero promoter and head organizer-person, I guess). I do need to grow some balls and say hi to more of the Dawning people that I've gotten to know just from reading [livejournal.com profile] the_dawning's Friends page, though, don't I?

Oh, so speaking of the music at the Dawning this week being great, are the playlists ever returning to the Dawning's web site? 'Cause I know I'd love to know the names and artists of a bunch of the tracks from this past weekend. :-D

I think that I'll have to make another "Best Of The Dawning" CD with that on it. Yeah!

After I move, I think I'll have a tea/coffee party or something else low-key and fun. We could have a small and pleasant gathering where we all get to actually talk! Yay!

What do you think? A picnic would also be pleasant, but it will have to be after the mosquitos die off. O_o

Hmm, looks like the g in [livejournal.com profile] nothingoth got doubled. You know who I meant, of course...

dancing = goodness

I only danced to a couple of songs, and I was overly hot just from that. I am amazed at how hardcore some people are!

The playlists are coming back. I'm slowly rebuilding the empire! It is just going so slowly. The biggest holdup has been finding a way to port everything over... having Disrupted.org go away really messed things up for me. I'll be posting the playlist in my journal sometime tomorrow. I've been putting the SubShock playlists - or will be - at [livejournal.com profile] subshock. Also, the lack of time I have right now is... astounding. Between all the stuff I usually do then moving and going away for a weekend too - *boom!* Xiane goes 'splodey.

If only I could clone myself.

O_o

See, I told you I've been working on this. Unforutnately, the Chadites I've created are less than up to par. . . course, that may be due to lack of food, sunlight, and supplemental oxygen, but ya can't make an omlette without. . . um. . . without. . . cheese. . .

::shudder:: mosquitos. I'm feeding my share of mosquitos this week (the joys of outdoor theatre! arg!) A tea (and coffee) party would be fabulously fun!
