I have a headache. I can't tell if it is post-club cranial residue, or the continuation of Virginia Monsoon Season affecting me. Blah. It is only enough pain to be annoying, which I suppose I should be grateful about, eh? Even coffee and Advil didn't banish it.
I have a million mosquito bites. I also have a nifty rash on my lower legs, because I thought somehow that it would be a good idea to wear the vinyl buckle boots all day long, including to a sweaty club, even though I know how uppity my skin gets. Duh. Thirty-six years in this body, and I still don't know how it operates.
Last night went much better than I expected. I was pretty worried about some of the logistics of making the evening snafu-free, and I realize that with the upcoming fall season, I will need more Dawning Deputies... but overall, things went fairly smoothly. I did get caught up in the "must run around like a giant dork" moment - of course, as soon as
Other than that, we seemed to have another kickass night. DJ Jinxed did a fantabulous job! For those who didn't know, that was his first DJ gig. I like that The Dawning is known as a great place to start out as a DJ or performer. I think that it is good to give everyone a chance to participate, as it rips down that elitist wall of crap. When people see that although it isn't difficult, it also takes some skill to do it well, their perceptions change about DJing. Yeah.
Anyway, we managed to keep the floor pretty packed, and it was a sweaty pit of dancing happiness all night. I played the DJ Skot C Is For Cookie/Another World remix, and I didn't get to see the crowd reaction, but I think people were amused. I like to have a fun song or two for whatever night. I spun a set of serious goth and deathrock at the beginning of the night, and then after the band I pulled out some industrial and EBM. This Morn' Omina packed the floor, wow. People have really caught on to them!
Okay, I have to get ready to go to station soon and work on OhGr interview. W00t.
