The manager for the office that Rob used to work for lost her husband this week - I don't think he was much older than me, but he had serious health issues. It was a shock, but not really as much of a surprise as it could have been, I guess. Being good citizens, we're going.

I hate funerals.

However, after having been to two that were closely tied with my family [father and father-in-law], I understand the value of them now. I'll go, pay my dues, and hopefully help to eventually ease a little of Atina's pain by being there. It won't be much of a contribution, but I remember how at the funerals I was a part of, even the most unknown people made an impact.

[livejournal.com profile] inefficiency and I noticed something funny when we were at the sheep and goat pens at the Cleveland County Fair on Wednesday. When a sheep or goat bleats, it totally sounds like a person disaffectedly saying "mehhhhh." We've started going around randomly saying "mehhhhh" now.

"Want some dinner?"
"Mehhhhh."

Yeah, my life is happening. Wooo.

The other big news is that I'm busting ass to get ready for a big event on the 13th - The Crafting Patch Market, an all-Etsy event in Charlotte. I'll be there with Threeravens.net, Coffin Color, and my business partner-in-crime Snitches Get Stitches. We'll be kicking ass and taking names and I hope that I see some of you local peeps there!
The bad part is that since I've been sick, that's kinda put me off my game for making stock. Now I'm playing the catch-up game, trying to make labels and 8 million lip balms and milk baths and ugh.
I really love making my stuff, don't get my wrong. It's just that half of what I have to make is a "big production" sort of thing, where I can only make one type at a time, like my lip balm. Because of the colouring and flavour, I can only do one batch at a time, then I have to clean every single tool I have... then let them dry completely. That takes up a lot of time, and requires me to do some careful management. Bath salts are the same way, since I only have so many bowls and measuring tools. That's something for the Xmoose list, I guess - more tools! :D

I'll get it all done. I just need to do a thing or two each night. I have new items I haven't even listed for sale, and some whipped shea butter balms that I can't wait to create... it'll come, it'll come.

How is everyone today?

What struck me at my Step-dad's funeral was all the people who came that he'd worked with over the years. People that Mom barely remembered, but they all had a little story to tell, a tiny remembrance that built a memorial.
For Rob's dad, there were SO many people. He had been a teacher, so there were a million lives he'd touched - as a relative newbie to the family, it was pretty amazing to hear all the memories, see all the tributes.

I didn't know Paul, and I barely know Atina... but we took food over on Wednesday, and we'll be there today. Rob knew them, and I'm there to support. It's the least I can do.

I despise funerals. I've made a vow never to attend another one unless it's someone very close. I flipped out at my Grandpa's funeral a few months ago...I just can't handle them. :\

Loss sucks.

Hehe I love the sound goats make. It's so cute. :3

You are a Goddess!

Thank you SO MUCH for the ginger lip balm. I've been using it non-stop and I love the way it feels. I wish it were even gingerier, but I LOVE it. And the tins are GREAT, but...as a person who'd like repeat customers...you might want to make them smaller? I use lip balm a LOT. I used to wear lipstick every day and now that I don't, I apply lip balm about once every hour or two, a generous amount. Even if I use only that lip balm, it will take me more than a year to use it up. As a customer, I am not complaining...I think it's great...I was just trying to give you some feedback *smile*.

Even people you barely know at a funereal can make an impact. It's good of you to go.

Those 'meehhhhs' have different meanings if you're around goats long enough, just like meows do.

Some, definitely! The one I'm attending on the 13th I am actually helping a little to organize, too. The networking there can be really helpful.

I can compile a list of places that I personally check for craft festivals and the like, too. Give me a couple of days, and I'll have it up here for you!

I'm not a fan, either... but there are some important reasons as to why humans have 'em, and I didn't really understand that until my Stepdad's funeral. I was suuuuuper uncomfortable at this one, but I do think that being there was a good thing, if only for Atina. I wouldn't go to them for the longest time after I attended my friend Eric's funeral a long time ago.

The goats we played with on Wednesday? SO CUTE. So so so cute!

Thank you for the feedback, and for letting me know that you like it! [yay!]

I wish that I could make it with more ginger, but that oil is irritating at too high of a quantity, so I had to mess with the formula to make it pleasantly gingery without making it burny. ;)

Too big, eh? Hmmm. I will have to look harder for a size that's smaller but not too small!
[ps - it makes a good cuticle cream, too! *grin*]

One day I'll be able to tell them apart, hopefully!
