Even though I no longer host Subculture Shock on WNRN, it still holds a place dear in my heart... and luckily for me, my good friend Patrick Allen is now the host, keeping the Oooky-Spooky Gothic Fyres burning and taking over the airwaves every Sunday night from 10pm -12 AM EST.

Why am I telling you this? Because the Fall Fundraiser is going on RIGHT now at WNRN and Sub Shock is on the air and raising money for the show. I pledged, and I'm listening online as I often do... and you should be, too!

Here's what you need to know:

Listen in from 10pm to Midnight EST TONIGHT on 91.9 (Charlottesville), 88.1(Staunton/Waynesboro), 89.9 (Lynchburg), 94.7 (Lovingston), 95.1(Harrisonburg), 95.9 (Lexington), 103.1 (Richmond), and wnrn.org (Everywhere) and pledge your support to keep Subculture Shock on the air! You can call 979 0919 in Charlottesville or TOLL FREE 1 877 967 6762any point during the show to make your pledge. You can also pledgeonline at wnrn.org but please make sure to write "For Subculture Shock" in the comments section and email subcultureshock@gmail.com so we can work out your premiums!

And, of course, every pledger gets The Subculture Shock Fall 2007 Fund Drive Compilation featuring new tracks from The Birthday Massacre, Synthetic Division, Specimen, The Opposite Sex, Clan of Xymox, The Secret Meeting, DulceSky, and an unreleased track from Attrition!

Want to know what items you could get for your pledge? Look Here: http://subshock.livejournal.com/

ps - should I be insulted that many of the tracks picked for "Best of The Worst" are ones I really like and used to spin a lot? *giggle*

Actually, that's why they're picked. It's kind of a "Let's Laugh at Ourselves" compilation. I mean, "A Girl Called Harmony" will be on there eventually. I freakin' love that song, but every time I hear it, I imagine your exaggerated performance of it. Who here has not overly rocked out to "Something Inside Me Has Died"? I also think that's why "The Best of the Worst" comps ARE so popular: Most of the songs are good, cheesy Goth that was the stuff that got us into the scene when we were young and melodramatic, and the rest are just so terrible you HAVE to laugh.

Thank you very much for helping out! I threw in some extra stuff for you, because you definitely deserve it. Hopefully it's things you don't already have.

Much love!

BODY MASSAGE! I haven't seen you use that icon in a while. Yay!

I love cheese, especially gothic cheese. I don't think that's news to anyone, hee. I bet I have every song on that comp and I don't care, because it'll be so fun to have 'em all in the same place. I will inflict it on everyone. :D

I do think that the cheesy songs are what got a lot of us into the genre. They're over-the-top and memorable... and eventually very, very funny. Then again, I look back at some of my old photos and it all makes sense to me. *grin*

I'm so excited to get my package! It sounds like SubShock did very well, which makes me happy. *dance*

It did it did! If we get one more level one pledge, SubShock will have broken 1200 for three consecutive fund drives!

I think of you when I play a lot of this stuff, actually. You made me into the SubShock host I am today!

I actually got criticized for some of the stuff I played as "So Bad, It's Good," saying that some of the stuff I played during "regular" format was just as, if not more, awful. Which is true, because a lot of Goth music is still as wonderfully (and terribly) cheesy as it ever was. Really, I'm just waiting for the folks growing up on this new music to get to the point where they can laugh at themselves. :p

We share a lot of the same musical taste. Cheese-lovin' and all!

You're a fantastic host for SunShock. You've got the silly sense of humour, a willingness to play requests, accessibility to the listeners... and of course the good music. I hated having to leave SubShock, but I am thrilled that it is in the right hands. :)
