Where's a good place in the Charlotte area to get one's hair cut without ending up with the turkey butt 'do? My pal Melissa and I want to go someplace cool where they understand the idea of retro-inspired AND modern haircuts, and also where one can get a decent dye job. [that's for Melissa, not me.]
Any advice would be taken gratefully and awarded with eternal worship. :D

2007-06-13 22:04 (UTC)If I can find someone who understands my ass-crazy cowlick infested fringe and get it to lie the way that I can, then I will be their fan for life. You wouldn't believe how many stylists ignore the things I tell them about how my hair behaves and manage to give me the most uneven bangs ever. I keep explaining that while it lies flat when it is WET, it will not ever be that way DRY. :D
Then they try to flatiron it to death. They never believe me when I tell them that I get it to behave with only a round brush, hairdryer, and my fingers. I don't even use styling product.
Okay, that was way more info about my hair than you ever needed. ;)

2007-06-13 22:12 (UTC)As much as it sucks to do, make an appointment and *seriously* go in with your cowlick ablazing, do not style the hair...that way you can explain the hairstylist and they have a visual of what it does, "I normally do my hair before coming into a salon but I just wanted you to see what I was talking about". Of course I NEVER do my hair before the visit and I dont' care how stupid I look, b/c it's their job to make it look better ;)

2007-06-13 22:37 (UTC)EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Can I just say how much I loathe my hair parted on the side? Gah.
I've started going in with my hair styled so that they can see that it *is* possible to actually make it lie smooth and even. It's like they just give in to the lure of the cowlick. Even the really expensive salons do this. I just don't get it.
btw - I will be thinking of you all weekend! It just isn't NYC without my girlie there.
