We went to the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia SC last Sunday, amidst more pollen than I've ever seen in one place at one time. If you stood still for a moment, you would develop a golden coating. O_O

If you click on the photo of Rob, you'll get to see some of the folk who we visited, including loud monkeys, a friendly lorikeet, and some PINK ASS flamingos. :D

You should so visit Wanda and drag her to the zoo, it is a really nice one. The animals look pretty content and the habitats are overall well done. My only advice is that you get there when they open, because otherwise you will be WICKED hot. We were there from 9am to around noon-thirty and my nose burned, even with sunblock!

One of these days WE need to meet up, too! :)

You would have LOVED the Howler Monkeys! You can hear them all over the zoo when they get wound up, and it always makes me giggle because they feed off of each other. One will start, then another, then suddenly they're all whooping and hooting and howling and swinging all over the place. Hilarious fun!
They have lots of "lesser" monkeys, and a nice gorilla habitat, where we saw a silverback meditating, but I couldn't get any good shots from there.

The flamingos make me think of you, too. BRIGHT ASS! :D

If you get down here to visit for any length of time, I might have to drag you there. It's only 2 hours from here!

Would it be possible for you to email me some high-res photos of the flamingos? My dad has a weird obsession with flamingos and I'd like to put them in a frame and add to his collection.

The resolution you see on Flickr is what my camera yielded, unfortunately. It isn't a very hi-rez camera, but it is good for quick and silly shots. I'm happy to give you those for your use however you like, though!

Hehe.. I just love that they're weeble shaped, and the little wiggle they do when they walk. Penguins are so damn precious!

Everyone's got their weird animal thing, I guess - mine's octopods, your dad has... flamingos. :D

First it was Snoopy. Then it was moose. And now flamingos. Please tell Rob thanks for the photos. I know my dad'll enjoy them.
