Blixa Bargeld's done entire concerts like that. It's pretty frickin' impressive. People like that have an amazing sense of rythm and tone. It's one-woman accapella!

*nod* I knew Blixa does stuff like this [he's great no matter what he does, anyway] - I am *always* impressed when people do it. Plus, I really like Imogen Heap. :)

I've not heard much from her, actually. Now I want to. Thank you for that!

"Hide and Seek" got a lot of attention because it was used in the ads for "Heroes" - but the whole album is really good. She used to sing in Frou Frou, also.

Love her work. There's definitely beauty in the (acapella) breakdown :-)

The quality of video isn't as good, but you'll get the idea. :)

Holy god, that's AMAZING. I've only heard of her in passing-- looks like I'm going to have to remedy that!

The lyrics are important for people like you and me.

Just for now, just for now, just for now
Just for now, just for now, just for now

It's that time of year
Leave all our hopelessnesses aside
If just for a little while
Tears stop right here
I know we've followed a bumpy ride
I'm secretly on your side

How did you know?
It's what I always wanted
You can never have had too many of these
Will you quit kicking me under the table
I'm trying
Will somebody make her shut up about it?
Can we settle down please?

It's that time of year
(Just for now, just for now)
Leave all our hopelessnesses aside
If just for a little while
(Just for now, just for now)
Tears stop right here
(Just for now, just for now)
I know we've followed a bumpy ride
I'm secretly on your side
(Just for now, just for now)

Bite tongue
Deep breaths
Count to ten
Nod your head
(Sniff, sniff)
I think something is burning
Now you've ruined the whole thing
Muffle the smoke alarm
Whoever put on this music had
Better quick sharp remove it
Pour me another
Oh, don't wag your finger at me

It's that time of year
(Just for now, just for now)
Leave all our hopelessnesses aside
If just for a little while
(Just for now, just for now)
Tears stop right here
(Just for now, just for now)
I know we've followed a bumpy ride
I'm secretly on your side
(Just for now, just for now)

Get me outta here, get me outta here
Get me outta here
Get me outta here, get me outta here
Get me outta here
Get me outta here, get me outta here
Get me outta here
Get me outta here, get me outta here
Get me outta here

Very much so. I think it was a combination of the words and her voice that made me so verklempt - when I really take a deep breath and let go of my built up walls, and feeling of responsibility, I fall into helpless tears and pieces.

Thank you for posting this. I'm a closet Imogen Heap fan (almost entirely from Hide and Seek, but also some of her off album stuff as well).

Kinda made me misty for a moment.

I am SO jealous. Rob and I saw that we just missed her, next time I will make sure not to.

My jaw was hanging open at the end of this.. My god I love it.

That is how I wanted/(want?) to be able to sing! The harmonizing and the lead all at once.. I've recorded one song overlapping myself, but it took me a long time to set up.. I envy her ability to construct it all right there in the moment.. My lord.

I've heard of Frou Frou, but I can't remember why.. is her other stuff like this? [Available on iTunes perhaps? I REALLY want to hear more]

*hits play again*

oh my lord.

Her website is flash-filled but has SO many videos - studio versions, but you'll get the idea. If you saw any of the ads for the TV show "Heroes" when they first started running them, "Hide And Seek" was the shiver-inducing track that was used for that. Her MySpace also has lots of info.

Speak For Yourself is the CD we own, and I'd recommend it highly. ♥

Very cool. I loved her first album back in '98. I was excited when her new album came out recently, but I couldn't seem to get into it or Frou Frou. Maybe I'll give it another try now.
