That seems like a great idea *except* I can't imagine how they keep the flies away. We already have a problem with flies in our building.

I don't think I've read of anyone having problems with worm composting and flies... I think if you keep the tub closed, it isn't a problem. I'll look more into that tonight and report back. I really want to do this at home and have for a while, so the info is important to me, too. No flies! ew! :D

if you want a good book on vermicomposting, check out "worms eat my garbage"

there are even some schools i've heard of where that are having children use two trash cans at lunch "inorganic waste" and "organic waste" and then the organic is dumped out back where worms eat it and change it into humus and compost!

it rocks, doesn't it? :)
