fungus

The fungus among us. Went on a hike in the Greenway today, and saw more fungi than a mushroom farm has, including some weird red tiny things that I couldn't find in my mushroom identifying book.

If you want to see all the flowers, fungi, and weird roots that I saw, you can check out all the photos with the [081806] tag.

I also scared the poo out of a water snake today. Snakes In A Creek! You heard it here first.

Y'know, that was the first thing I thought, after "WHOA NELLY SNAKE" [and he thought "WHOA NELLY HUMAN" and hauled ass body]

We went to see Snakes On A Motherfuckin' Plane last night and every damn scene had me saying "snakes on a serving cart!" "snakes on the toilet!" etc.

I think that movie broke me.

I think that movie has broken the world. Now, whenever anyone sees a snake somewhere, it's, "A mothafuckin' snake on a mothafuckin' blank!"

:-P

That's pop culture for you... and the effects of a marketing budget that probably meets or exceeds the total budget spent on making the film.

The true test will be whether or not there's a sequel.

Snakes in a Creek! HAH! Love it. You know, I think you're the only person I know with a mushroom identification book.

There's some weird-ass fungi out there, isn't there? The slime molds are me favourite - so odd!

Fungi rock!

It is one of the weirder types of organisms. I always wanted to see a deathcap. Of course, I'd be the idiot that's like "the poison can't be that bad, can it?"

I felt bad for ol' snake-dude, just sitting there doing his "sunning on the creekside" thing, then here comes NOISY PINK THING messing up his whole day. He was gone in like 2.5 seconds!

I really like these trails, there are so many interesting things to see. This was my first foray into the actual woods there, although there are trails that are much more "in the woods" than this one. I want to wait until it is colder to tackle those, as I fear ticks.

Thank you! Man, it is SO green out there. It makes me so energized to hike through there, between the gorgeous scenery and the sound of the river nearby. So beautiful, with or without snakes! :D
