Stanley keeps getting bigger. He's a Carolina Mantid, so his colouring won't change much. However, he could grow up to 3 inches in length!
I hope he's either actually a boy or forgives me for calling him a boy. :D

He's *really* hard to get a good pic of, which sucks, because he's so adorable. He's living on my basil plant on the balcony, which thrills me to no end! I found him out there a few weeks ago, and he's stayed through several really strong storms and a lot of peering visits from me.

Oooh, there's some great info on mantids here (http://www.newsfinder.org/site/more/praying_mantis/) too, including how to determine a mantid's sex. Oh Stanley, we're going to get to the bottom of this!

I would say I'd take one, but there's a no pets rule enforced in my household. Sooo cute. In an insecty way.
