If you recently tried to add me and were rejected, there's a good chance that I meant to add you but was cruelly tricked by Firefox. I switched to Firefox to avoid the virus issues that MySpace has, but certain things don't seem to work on MySpace when I use Firefox. I'm pretty annoyed, because there were several bands and people that I friended that I really wanted to keep. Of course I can't remember who they all are. Fucking lame.

If you re-add, I'll try to make it work this time.

Whatever the javascript is won't work correctly with what I've disallowed for MySpace in Firefox. I'm fairly sure this is just an issue with how I have FF configiured [NoScript], because it wasn't happening before I switched, and no one else has mentioned it being a problem. *I* didn't realize it was a problem until someone pointed out that I hadn't friended them back, when I had checked the box and hit Accept from my end. I had no idea it hadn't gone through. Evidently this has been happening since I switched and now I've lost several contacts that I really wanted to keep. I wouldn't even have this issue if it wasn't that I NEEDED to have Firefox to view their stupid site w/o getting a virus. [I suspect that more people have it than realize it, because it is a sneaky one.]

I hate MySpace, hate hate hate it.

Hmm. Well, maybe it *is* just stupid MySpace being stupid. Though I don't get error messages, it toodles along like whatever I was doing happened ust like it was supposed to.

Have I mentioned that I hate MySpace? :D

I've also noticed that Myspace tends to overload Firefox on a fairly regular basis, which is why I don't really go there much anymore. I can only use Myspace for brief periods of time to keep it from crashing Firefox temporarily. I guess there's just too much going on for it to handle?

I dunno, it's weird and annoying. At least it doesn't damage Firefox, though.

I always used MySpace with Firefox, but I didn't start having problems until I started using Adblock. I don't think it's a technical issue; I think it deliberately starts fucking up certain features when you try to use methods to get around all the ads.

Jacob a/k/a the BeeF of Moo says:
NoScript and FlashBlocker extensions sometimes mess up my FF pages too. But there's an easy solution: get the IE View (and/or the IE Tab) extension for Firefox. You can still use your FF and switch the tab to IE only when you must. The problem then, of course, is that you're using IE and you can't block the crazy annoying ads/flashes that are a strong argument for using FF in the first place (especially with MySpace). So first try allowing scripts for MySpace, and if that doesn't work, do the IE View/Tab thing.

Actually, that's the whole reason I started using FF. MySpace has some ad they're running that will auto-install an adware virus. I tried to email them about it and discovered there's no easy way to email the slimeballs, they don't have a customer service/complaint email addy anywhere that's obvious or non-obvious for that matter. Spybot will catch the auto-install attempt, but sometimes it would go through anyway, and it was a PITA to get off the computer again, as it hides in the registry. After this happened several times, I d/led FF and started running it with Adblock and NoScript enabled, and there's been no problem. I'm afraid that if I turn off those or use the IE workaround, it'll just go back to the same issue, and that's just not worth it, y'know? :D
As much as I fuss about MySpace, there's two reasons I wanted to stick with it. One is a few friends who I can't seem to keep up with anywhere else, and the other is that a lot of bands ONLY use MySpace for promotion now, so that's the only way I'm going to hear some new music. I can be a grump about it and swear off MySpace forever and try to force people to interact with me in other ways... or I can suck it up.

I'm about ready to be a grump. I tried to tango and was left feeling ill. ;)

It doesn't matter so much to me in theory, it is just a small annoyance... but it would be really great to be able to use it for promoting still. ._.

Well. THAT was a babble. Hee!

I absolutely agree with not trusting it. The only reasons I use it at all are to keep up with a few people who just can't seem to email/post outside of the lolocaust that is MySpace, and because MySpace is one of the few places where you can readily find new small bands to contact. [I miss the old mp3.com!] Every time I want to walk away, someone mentions some band I just *have* to hear, yadda yadda... on MySpace. Fuckers. ;) It is such an easy cop-out way for bands to get their music online, it has become ubiquitous. And that sucks.

For a while I was amused with teh challenge of trying to make the site work without being a total clusterfuck. I rambled on in a reply to Maria about that already, heh.

I'm always really amoosed when the site breaks and people freak out. There are so many better sites out there for locking your computer up! :D

I haven't had any problem with it overloading FF, especially not like it does with IE. Maybe FF isn't having any of MySpace's bullshit and is telling you to go look at something better. :D

Probably so. Adblock is one of two reasons I wanted to use FF in the first place. I know that the adware virus is coming from some ad that MySpace is running.

Y'know, I posted a while back that MySpace was running ads with adware and almost no one gave a shit. It's amaing how little some people care about getting malware and pop-up spawners auto-installed on their computer. O_o

That's what I figured was happening. I think Firefox is trying to tell me I have better things to do with my time.
