Last night! Whee!

Obviously yesterday was my Unbirthday.

FOUR presents! All completely awesome and random! You guys, you are so wonderful to me. A silver squidge from seeliespright! A lovely African Violet In A Purple Pot from xymoxed and bekesseg! Delightful earrings [handmade!] from brokenme85! And a Devil Duckie Decal for bath tiles from javafiend! Yaaaaay!

Seriously, I have no idea how I got so lucky. you guys rock.

The Dawning went, for the most part, very well. rat_bastard and I had a great time DJing, and fiendmorte did awesomely at his Deathrock DJ debut. He even got people on the floor when he spun "... John Cole" by those weird Brides folk. Not an easy feat; the 10-11 slot is notoriously hard to get people motvated during!
There was some drama, and I'm not going to discuss details other than to say this: You've been warned, people. Underage drinking will NOT be tolerated, and lying to my face about it will gain you scorn and loss of respect.
Just for the record:
NO ONE has the permission of the staff or owner to drink underage at The Outback. If they tell you differently, THEY ARE LYING.
If someone tells me that you are drinking and I come to talk to you, don't get pissed at the person who told me! They ACTUALLY CARE about the club - unlike YOU. And if you'd like to argue with me about that, let me point out - you're the one that will get us shut down, not them. If you have a problem with that, DON'T COME TO THE DAWNING! WE DON'T WANT YOU!
If I see you drinking or see evidence of it, or someone independently admits to buying you a drink - DON'T LIE TO ME ABOUT IT! I'm not fucking stupid. And you'll make an enemy of me, where once you had a friend. I will cease to cut you any breaks.
I NOW HAVE POWER TO BAN YOU, sanctioned by the owner. I WILL USE IT.

Seriously, this is the stuff that makes me want to quit running The Dawning. I'm really tired of playing mommy to people who obviously don't care about anything but their own pleasure. It's unfortunate that this is only a small percentage, but they have the potential to ruin it for all the decent, caring club-goers... but for each single person who stands up and point out an issue, there are several more who sanction the underage drinking. And for those who suggested that we go to 18+, I hate to say it - but it's the 18-20 year olds who are often the worst at the underage drinking thing.
If we went 21+, the night would die, and besides, that's really anti-Dawning. I *want* to have a place where everyone can go. I'm tired of worrying that some irresponsible, selfish drunk is going to ruin it, though.

*sigh* okay, enough of that. DJing was great, there were some great conversations to be had. I left feeling overall pretty good about the night. I love everyone who comes to the club, even if they're currently being a butthead about things. Tonight's SubShock, and somehow I scored tomorrow OFF!

Okay, back to brooding and quesadilla.

I had actually heard that permission had been given to certain people directly from you. I'm glad that this is cleared up.

If more people vowed not to fuck drunk people, there would be less inebriation.

Wait, like I gave them permission? Or that I said that some people had permission? Because if someone was saying I gave them permission, I'll rip their heads off and use them as new apartment decor. It's been bruited about that a certain person "had permission from the owner" which I've doubted openly, but last night I took it upon myself to verify all facts and confront said person with them. :D

I second the "go Chris." You are a wise woman to whom everyone should listen. And I'm certainly glad that we have you to look out for the best interests of the group (although it really sucks that you end up playing mommy).

Anyways, I had a great time, even if I couldn't dance so much and I'm glad you like your silver squidge.

I don't get out to the Dawning nearly as much as I like to because I work on Saturdays, but I would hate to lose the ability to have someplace to go just because of a few people who can't respect the fact that the Dawning is the BEST place in the world for us goth type folk to hang out. I implore everyone to please help keep the Dawning drink free for all those underage so we can all have a place to keep going to listen to and dance to awesome music and hang out in a fun and friendly environment.

Also, I'd like to thank Chris for being an awesome person and continuing to give us rockin music and an awesome place to hang out.

In accordance with this threat the department of goth security is raising the goth alert level to orange. Check with local authorities for appropriate responses.
