10 March 2002 03:28All in all, a decent night, although it had a bad start... awoke this morning [sat] with no voice, feeling completely terrible, and saddled with a monster headache to boot. I hate colds, and I *knew* I was going to get one when the week started out in the 20-30's and rose to over 70 degrees by Friday. Fuck global warming, I blame it for this cold.
So I managed to not have to do sound check [bless those punk boys who forswear sound checking!], and I used that time to remain firmly planted in bed, with warm covers snuggled around me and a goodly supply of juice at hand. I didn't get up until about 1900, when I took two Advil Cold and Sinus [those things rock], laid down for a tiny bit more while I got used to the idea that I had to wake up... then I struggled to the bathroom so I could get ready for The Dawning. It is amazing what water can do to revive one. After washing the bed blahs out of my hair and off the rest of me, I managed to get dressed, look fairly appealing, and get my CDs ready in time to get over to The Rose and get to DJing. As mentioned before, we had two punk bands [Riot Act and The DeadBeats] booked, so I knew that the standard club fare wouldn't go over well. Good thing for me that I have so many old-school gothic shmothic CDs, and a decent amount of tracks with crossover appeal. And anyway, if no one was going to dance, I could spin to please myself. Woo. I thought I did okay, and no one seemed to complain. And I managed to get everyone out after the bands played, so we were able to shut down early - which suited us all just fine, as I think we were all under the weather by this point.
I'll post the playlist on The Dawning website tomorrow. I'm supposed to go to the Guad for brunch anyway, which means I'll have to be up and moving by noon if we want to make it by 1400 - I have a lot of crap I'll need to do tomorrow. Yadda Yadda. This room smells like sick people - god I hate that - so it needs to be cleaned. I have to buy a new printer cart. I need to get the shit together for SubShock. I need to do laundry. I will probably try and work on my webpage, also. Maybe not.
I've spent this weekend feeling rather foolish. I guess it comes with the territory. *shrug* I *am* merely human. Right?
