krasota, I need to invoke your spirit for help in the land of domain registration and credit card ownership. Can you call me tomorrow and tell me if help is still available? Thanks! :)
I need someone with a credit card to call in my renewal to the wretched host of my domain name. I hate those guys, they're the most unhelpful and annoying people on the planet, and i want off of their services... but they conveniently waited to tell me that I was almost at the end of my year with them until it was too late to renew with anyone but them. And things happened so fast at the end of the year, that now my domain's expired and I can't access xiane.org - so I need to call them with a credit card. :(
I HATE those guys. As soon as I renew it, I'm moving it somewhere else.
Also - Adrian, being a domain registrar himself, may be of assistance. I'm pretty sure you can have a domain transfered to any registrar you want, legally.
The rule is that in the last 30 days, you can't transfer it. They so cleverly waited until the 30 day mark to send a reminder :P
I'm going to talk to Adrian as soon as I get the other host satisfied. Since even though you pay to own a domain name, the company that registers it technically owns first rights to it when it expires, so there's not much I can do until then. :(
Well yes, but only when the account in question is in good standing... and xiane.org expired on 1/3... at least that's what they say, whois says it expired /next year/ (2005).
One more reason to avoid them like a rotting squirrel.
