frustration

xianeso. first entry, and I'm going to rant. In fact, perhaps this journal will be ALL rants, who knows. I can if I want to, so there.
I am disgusted by two things right now - one is personal to my life, and involves the ongoing discovery of lingering debts, mostly incurred while trying to help some friends out of a bad place a while back. Of course, said friends repaid my debts by running off to live a merry life, sticking me with the [many] bills. Every time I think I've got all those creditor types off my ass for once and for all.. I get the dreaded call. This is what I get for trying to help people out.
The other things that's been really frustrating to me lately is the complete disappearnce of courtesy from today's society. How hard is it to be a little kind to someone, just a bit polite? It reaches from not cleaning up after oneself [because you know someone else will be along to do it if you don't, so why bother?] to showing up on time or at least bothering to call if you're not going to show, so people don't waste their time [whis IS as precious as yours, I promise!] waiting around for your impolite ass. Hand someone something they're reaching for, if you're closer! Open a door for someone laden down with packages! Oh, and something else - if someone compliments you, for god's sake don't belittle it... that is terribly rude and just drags everyone down. If you can't be nice, why not just say "thank you" and leave it at that? The compliment giver was being nice, and we certainly don't have enough of that in the world these days.
Yeah, this does really bother me. I think that a general minding of manners will keep interactions with others - always a potentially obnoxious chore - as pleasant and painless for all parties as can be.
