If you're in DC/Baltimore/Northern VA and you haven't caught [livejournal.com profile] intenebris, this is a great time to do so. They're playing at [livejournal.com profile] dcmidnight tonight, and I've been kindly asked to guest DJ! I'll be spinning alongside residents Phae and Liebchen... expect to hear a lot of Old School Goth and the like from me.

Here's the blurb from them, because they say it much better than I:

A hit with the Virginia goth scene since the band was formed in 1997,
In
Tenebris has had no trouble winning over wider audiences in the
last few
years. Some of you have undoubtedly caught them locally in
the past at The
Velvet Lounge or U-Turn, or at The Outback in their
home base of
Charlottesville. This fall they won an online "Battle
of the Bands," giving
them a chance to play at the Eccentrik Festival
in N.C. along with The Last
Dance, Bella Morte, Voltaire, and The
Brides. Described as offering "hard
hitting rock sounds and haunting
vocals," In Tenebris is currently promoting
its latest release, the
EP "The Depths" and a forthcoming
professionally-produced CD in
2006. Don't miss this pre-'06 tour
performance, and check them out
at: www.myspace.com/intenebris

Before and after the band appears, we'll be running our
usual dance
party, of course. This week two of our request-friendly
residents,
Phae and Liebchen, will be joined in the booth by guest DJ Xiane
of
Cryptkicker (http://cryptkicker.xiane.org), a great
Wednesday party
at The Depot in Baltimore. Her initial guest DJ appearance
at
Midnight was a big hit--no surprise given her past history, which

also includes spinning and promoting for The Dawning in
Charlottesville,
vocals for The Violet Dawning, and more. She will,
alas, be moving to North
Carolina in the near future. So don't miss
this opportunity to catch some of
her great sets in D.C.

In Tenebris will, of
course, be offering copies of their CDs for sale
during the evening; and our
highly prescient house tarot reader,
Jamile, will be on hand to amaze you
with her insights into future
possibilities (donations accepted, and please
be generous!).

Starring in the vendors corner will be one of our
regulars, Stefanie,
who's holding another of those popular gothic yard
sales. She's
promised to bring us clothing at prices ranging from $5-$20,
CDs from
$1-$10, hair falls and jewelry in the $1-$10 range, "and various

other lil' things." Can't resist a bargain? Then be sure to visit
her
display this Saturday, and come out early for the best deals!

Early's always a good time to show up at The Meeting
Place on
Saturday, since the bartenders offer a two-for-one drinks deal

between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m., our first twelve guests pay no cover,
and
we leave a tray of free candy out for those craving sweets.

Whenever you
arrive, be sure to fill out one of the slips on our
literature table and pop
it into the adjacent cauldron. That enters
you in the weekly drawing. This
week's prizes include CDs from
Absurd Minds, Invisible Ballet, The
Dreamside, Lunascape, and Suicide
Girls. Good luck!

As our regulars
know, we're big on free cake. This week you owe your
pastry allotment to the
fact we're celebrating the birthday of one of
our most loyal regulars, Kerre
Corbin, plus the anniversary of two
other Midnight diehards, Barbara and
Kevin. Be sure to wish each of
them the best at some point during the
evening. (H.B. also to
Skinhead Mike, Misha of MLP SoapWorks, and Shaina!)

Want to nibble something more substantial than a slice or a few

chocolates? Keep in mind that The Meeting Place serves burgers and

sandwiches from opening until 2:00 a.m. They're not free, of course,
but
they are extremely tasty. Just ask one of the bartenders for a
menu.

So don't stay home and mope on Saturday night. We've got great

music, both live and spun, some fine vendors, free stuff, and more.
It's
the best gothic Saturday bargain in town, and we hope to catch
you there!

I take 295 to get to Midnight. I would come pick you up, but I've got three in the jeep and I'm running short on time. [too much stuff! so little time! eeeek!]
I understand about the ating driving. I surprisingly don't mind driving but I hate finding a parking spot :/

295 is better, though. And the timing's just too tight to deviate tonight :/
I wish I'd known earlier, I could have planned it in. I'm such a stresser.
