I like some of your members. In fact, in this comment that I made in someone's journal [that a few of you saw fit to hold HER responsible for!] I stated:
You are MUCH cooler than all of them, although I do like some of the people on
there.
I'm just opposed to ratings communities in general. This one claims to be cute
and fun, but I've seen them go for throats with knives drawn several times.

The first part of this "you're much cooler than.." is something we say to each other all the time, because we're close friends and like to assert the badassery of each other. That's not saying that you suck. In fact, there are several of you on my friends list, and I like you very much.
What I was saying - and it's obvious by the response that said friend got in her application to you - is that although you tout yourselves as fun and silly, you take your little acceptance ritual VERY seriously and have been known to go for the jugular. Overall, I think ratings communities are designed for boosting of low self-esteem. You say there's much more to you, and that's fine. But having a voting process, where you have to parade different aspects of what you are in order to live up to the group's expectations and standards.. I think that makes it a different animal than you do, obviously.
If that's what you like, that's fine. I don't. Notice that I didn't apply. I just offered to my friend my opinion. Holding HER responsible for my opinion is really pretty stupid, don't you think?

Just so you can get a picture of the person I am - I'm pretty well known for keeping my personal opinions close at hand, especially not telling many people if I dislike someone else. My theory is that life's just easier if I learn to work around my personal dislikes. Ask anyone who knows me how many times they've ever heard me say "I don't like him/her." It's a rare thing.
I severely dislike ratings communities and communities with ratings-style applications. I think they pander to an attitude I would prefer to have seen left behind in high school. I don't think less of my friends who belong to them, but I have absolutely no desire to see anyone put themselves through that process just to have some strangers say "oh, you're cool!" Fuck that. That's not for me, at least. I know who I am, and I've got very little to prove. Again, that's not to say I think less of my friends who need or want that. Whatever works for them. But I *will* offer my opinion to my closest friends, and if you don't like it, please bear in mind that I own that opinion happily and thoroughly and will get really annoyed if you judge my friends on it.

Okay, this has degenerated into senseless PMS-fueled rambling on my part. I'm not stating this to start shit with anyone. I just want it to be seen that THIS IS MY OPINION and MINE ALONE, thank you drive through.

*edit* Comments like this are what I'm talking about:
"If you don't feel Royal, then you aren't Royal. Sure we have a sense of humor about ourselves, but we're also proud-semi-elitist bitches."

...And I'll be over here, hanging out with the down-to-earth people who have had enough of bitchery in the "spooky" set.

You're welcome in my "not-cool" club anytime. No application needed.

And I like your band... which makes both of us cool!

Oh no! Will I have to kick us out of my club now?

Oh thank god i'm not royalty....too much maintenance, too much time spent judging someone's worth based on the amount of proper make-up application instead of actually doing something. I have no idea why anyone would voluntarily put themselves through that kind of scrutiny. Isn't daily life full of enough pretentious bullshit?

I also wonder why anyone would want to have "bitch" as part of their self proclaimed identity.
I like being a friendly person, it doesn't come with a tiara, but it has perks of its own.

Yeah, I think I've only heard you say "I don't like that person" about two VERY specific people, whom I'm pretty sure aren't members of that comm.

You're good people, and I like you. :)

Kids... let them have their fun while it lasts. Reality might bite them. Hard.

Goth Royalty?

Jesus Tittyfucking Christ. Besides coughing up a borrowed concept about 20 years too late, these people sound like they're attempting to justify, if not lionize, their own assholishness. Bullshit like this validates me bailing when I did because, holy boots, do I not want to be associated with this kind of disease.

And I really hate the popular misuse of "elite". A closet full of Hot Topic and Lip Service, and a CD collection an alley cat wouldn't wipe its ass on, seriously does not make someone the cream of any crop.

Now now... Language like that won't get you in good with GothRoyalty! Rumour on the street is I'm the coolest person ever, and they can't handle that.

Never stop being my friend. Seriously.

That's not my "goth scene", that's for sure. In fact, that's nothing I want any part of. I'm happy where I am, with the awesome friends I have.
