EDIT - this was posted to [livejournal.com profile] 52weekplan after I mistakenly posted it here. I tried to delete it but LJ is fucking up all over, and I like the responses, so I guess it's staying :D ]

Hi, everyone! Thanks go to [livejournal.com profile] onceupon for providing this space - I'm inspired! I have a lot of little things I want to work on changing, so this seems like the perfect environment.

I know this is late in the game to be posting this week's goals, but I've been working on 'em already, so I'm at least ahead there.

1. Exercise at least three times this week, to get myself back into the habit of it. I've got DDR Max and I've been using that as my workout, and it's suuuuper.
2. I moved, two months ago, back into my Mom's house, bringing my 38 years worth of stuff that I didn't purge [and there was a LOT that I did] into a room's worth of space. I've been here since November, but despite some efforts to make it comfy, the perfect organization still eludes me. I want to work on that, getting my living space to feel more comfortable and usable.

Not a lot of goals, but that's as good a place to start as any, yes?
I'm really excited by the possiblities of this community.

PS, PS2, and XBOX. There are also a couple PC Emulators which work well, if you wanna go that route (you can get adapters for the pc-pad connection).

The advantage of DDR over regular workout machines lies in the potential community and fun factor-- consider the reaction you'd probably get if you invited friends over for an elliptical machine party.

Anyway, there are plenty of sites that give tips and tutorials for getting cheap pads, etc. You could start here, or just do a search. Good luck!

(And incidentally, I'm thinking of releasing DDR emulator Stepfiles for one of the songs on the upcoming Atomic Box album. I'm such a geek.)

Also, I totally agree with the fun factor. It's much more fun to dance around to techno and remade 80's songs [and sometimes original 80's songs!] on a pad, with or without friends... I've heard that the PC-based emulators aren't bad. I asked for a PS2 for Xmoose specifically for this purpose, knowing that I'd play other games on it, too, butr specifically wanting it for DDR. See, that's how big a geek I am. :D

The advantage of using Stepmania (the PC Emulator for DDR) is that you can get an adapter, get a pad, and dance to "Personal Jesus" instead of "Ordinary World."
